My name is Richard Fast. I'm 84 years old. I am retired, and my beautiful wife and I live in Lone Tree, Colorado. I am a 31-year Navy submarine veteran, and a commercial pilot following that. I have always liked to work with computers, and I have had programming as a hobby since introduction of the PC by IBM. I love building things with my hands, and it seems I have always had some kind of project going. I now live in a senior living facility that does not have any workshop space I can use, so I have turned to my desktop computer for recreation. Computer generated art has always fascinated me, but I seem to have never had the time to pursue that with any seriousness. I certainly have the time now.
I like geometric objects (can be mathematically described), and I find pleasure in viewing and drawing them. Lines, rectangles, triangles, Polygram’s, are right up my alley. Sometimes I let a circle join in. I no longer have a steady hand, but my creative mind is still working. I particularly like using random numbers to mathematically define the objects in my art. Doing so creates some very interesting patterns and can give a strong insight into what random really means.
Please read the menu item titled "my art", for a better description of my motivation to draw random geometric objects. In the case of my collection of "random trails" there may be 100s of thousands of one-point straight lines that make up the drawing. What's so cool is that it is impossible to predict what the drawing will look like when completed. Add some great color palettes and you have created some beautiful art.
